Halloween on Burlap

Featured in a Holiday and Special Occasion edition of Somerset Magazine, this "Box of Bones" is one of my favorites.  The shadow box is completely hand made of heavy weight chipboard, covered, filled and decorated, then topped off with a clear "window" secured with tissue tape.  Hope you are inspired to go through your stash and build a beauty - enjoy!

Here is a close up overview for you to follow - sorry the glare of Plexiglas fog's it up a bit:

After the box base was built and lined with papers, I used a Stickles gold glitter pen to outline spider webbing in background:
Tim's set of three small burlap panels were used to highlight vintage cards (from his older papers) and lettering - each was mounted on thick cardstock, trimmed out, inked and glued to burlap:

After hot gluing in the burlap panels, the center space holds a skeleton with ruby rhinestone eyes and word band; other embellishments glued in are from party shops, craft & drug stores.

Once everything was secured inside box, I cut and glued on heavy acetate to cover top to the edge, then added tissue tape to finish.  Tim's rub-ons could also be added to acetate for added depth - enjoy!
